Flint Physiotherapy 2019
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.
Physiotherapy is a science-
At the core is the patients involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment. (taken from www.csp.org.uk)
Although they are often thought of as just dealing with musculoskeletal problems, physios are trained professionals who work with many systems of the body including:
Musculoskeletal (sports injuries, arthritis, back pain)
Neurological (stroke, Parkinson’s)
Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehab after heat attack)
Respiratory (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma)
In the UK, the title of ‘physiotherapist’ is protected and all therapists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You can check whether your physiotherapist is registered, by checking the HCPC website.
